A houseboat. I loved being on the St. Johns River, which you could cruise on to from Lake Jessup. There were rope swings hanging from massive oaks trees in different spots on the river. The land and water made like a path through all these different environments. Sometimes wide open and simple. Sometimes narrow and a mash of every plant. One time the sun was setting with a peach and pink sky and a stream of migrating birds were flying above us in the shape of the river. It was about 45 minutes of really feeling life happening. It was surreal and yet the most real.
I wanted to be a Park Ranger growing up because of those moments.
Lake Jessup - Black Hammock
The Black Hammock Fish Camp. This place was just a restaurant with pool tables and dock when I was young. Now it has a zoo, outdoor bar and airboat tours. When I was 12 I made an amazing pool game shot here. The room roared and I felt very cool. I took only these two images because it's very different. Lake Jessup is still a wonderful sight. I met the owner and this weather report is very much his personality.
