This was the apartment building I lived in from 1.5 to 7 years old, then I visited until about 10.

The upstairs windows belonged to my friend Nancy's apartment. She was an only child and they had linoleum floors because Nancy had allergies. She had a very clean and pretty room with a good amount of barbies.

We played a lot.

This is the courtyard of the apartment complex. There is a pool on the other side of the gate. I tried to surf a floaty in that pool and busted my chin open. One of about a half a dozen chin cracks in my childhood. Walking down those stairs when I was around 3 years old I had what I call my first spiritual experience. As I watched the person holding my hand walk down the steps I had like a thought come in my mind. A kind of knowing that I would hold on to as I moved through my childhood - The person holding my hand and those that come around me are not a reflection of me. Their actions and choices are not mine and not my fault or my responsibility. It was a fast impression, but one that I know saved me and kept my heart and spirit healthy. That moment was the turning on of my connection with intuition. You have to be brave to live by intuition. I've been told I am brave, and strong.

The upstairs windows were my apartment. On the other end of the building from Nancy. The window on the left was my room. I would watch the garbage truck every week from that window. The driver would always wave at me - which of course was the coolest thing ever. I still have a regard for trash collectors. They literally are the front line of all our good health. I don't know if people really consider that. Anyway. That was my room. I use to play with my baton by that palm tree.

These were our parking spots at the apartment. We had a Dodge Charger with little locks in the hood and a blue and white Duster. And motorcycles. This is where my parents broke up.
